The National WWII Museum is a New Orleans Must-See

You don’t have to be a history buff or a veteran to enjoy the National WWII Museum in New Orleans, Louisiana. It is simply a must-see for anyone coming to The Big Easy.

Located less than one mile from the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, the museum has a stated mission:

To tell the story of the American experience in the war that changed the world—why it was fought, how it was won, and what it means today—so that all generations will understand the price of freedom and be inspired by what they learn.

It does that, and then some.

The multi-building museum features detailed exhibits like the Higgins boats used during D-Day that were manufactured in New Orleans, multimedia experiences like a movie on what was at stake during the war, and an incredible collection of artifacts and oral histories that take you deep into the Allied victory.

Groundwater Week 2025 takes place in New Orleans December 9-11 and will be co-locating with the Irrigation Association. Register today, and when you’re there, make sure to leave plenty of time to visit the National WWII Museum.
